Here are a range of magazine contents pages in which i annotated looking at what features were used for these contents pages, how consistent the contents pages were in use of color, and letting the readers know that the contents pages belonged to a certain magazine.

I realised that each of these contents pages used a limited amount of color for their layout, text, image, and numbers within the features of the magazine.
